Commentaires du Broker
Comments from the Owner:
She is beautifully finished throughout and in excellent condition having had light use. The accommodation far exceeds that you would expect on a yacht of this size and has been extremely cleverly designed to be comfortable whether at sea or in harbour. Easily single handed, ideal for two and will sleep six if necessary. Performance under sail or engine is pleasantly surprising. The canoe stern gives excellent bad weather handling.
To quote Motor Boat and Yachting:
‘There is no mistaking this boat. She is an LM through and through, and that is no bad thing. As hard as one may try, it is difficult to find fault in the build of an LM, and the quality of the build should give the LM 28 a very long life.’
Purchase background from the owner: Bought new 1985 by Dr Nuhs of Schenefeld, Hamburg and used around that area coastal and river estuaries. Sold 1989 to Dr Wecks, Wischhafen, Hamburg, who I was told was acquainted with Dr Nuhs. Dr Wecks sadly passed in 1991. Boat inherited by his wife Mrs Wecks who kept it for use within the family as it had been her husband’s pride and joy. From new the boat was kept at a marina in Wischhafen, launched every May for family use maintained/serviced whenever necessary. Brought ashore each September and warehouse stored over winter.I had gone to Hamburg to buy an LM 32 which I was assured was available only to find that it had sold three months before. After a brief and pointed exchange of views the broker spoke to a chap who was acting for Frau Wecks and had just put it on the market as it was getting little use. I viewed it that day and it was obvious that it was in excellent condition although in need of a touch of TLC. Not the model I wanted but you rarely find a boat with that background. Flew home to arrange transport to Southampton. Confirmed engine hours shown at that time were just over 900, now just under 1500 confirmed correct.I had until then changed my yacht every five or six years, last boat being the first production Contessa 33 which I loved but was hard work. The fact that I still have this boat nearly 17 years later tells you just how well it has suited us and how much we have enjoyed its use. But I’m now 75 and my wife is somewhat older, and is no longer so keen on sailing, so time for a change. Will she be our last boat? Probably, but never say never, and I’m thinking about it ....
