Commentaires du Broker
Boatshed Southampton are pleased to present this classic 1960s racer, a Rancher 41 for sale.
She was built in 1969 in Poole, and is currently going through a refit and restoration. A lot of work and time has been spent on the exterior and as can be seen from the pictures. She has recently been repainted and is looking resplendent in her blue.
She has had her standing rigging replaced this year and the owner is currently in the process of completing some rewiring. Down below, the boat has a lot of space with eight individual berths, rather than a modern separate cabin layout.
Under her original name Stampede of Arne, she was raced as an Admiral’s Cup contender, in the Channel also taking part in the Fastnet Races in 1969, 71 and 73.
She was subsequently bought by Lord Methuen, who had been a member of the British Olympic Sailing Team at the 1948 Olympics.
She was bought by the previous owners in 1987, and was sailed extensively to Spain, a circumnavigation of Great Britain, along the Norwegian Coast, several times to the Baltic and frequently to Holland.
She is clearly a project as can be seen from the pictures but will definitely make someone a fantastic sailing boat.

My late father part-owned this yacht, along with Barry Mercer, until around 2015. I sailed on her many times. She may still need work doing (much has been done by the current owner) but I can assure anyone interested that she is a beautiful yacht to sail. We often raced in the Hull to Ijmuiden North Sea races in the 80s and 90s with a lot of success. It’s great to she has been having some TLC.
Hi Rob
Many thanks for the message - I have contacted you directly by email
Please more information about the condition of the diesel engine and the sails as well. Of course the sails will be old but can they be used for a trip to the Netherlands, for example?
Can the ship be delivered in the Netherlands considering the state of maintenance she is in.
Regards
Rob Moree
