Whitby Boat Works had a reputation for building strong boats and Alberg 37s have proven themselves repeatedly. A 1977 hull (Good News), for example, was beached in a hurricane suffering only minor scratches. Paul Howard recalls a story in Canadian Yachting Magazine of a single hander’s 37 surviving three days of pounding on a reef in the South Pacific before escaping by jettisoning his supplies. He then sailed 2,000 miles before repairs.
The hulls are of solid fiberglass up to an inch thick at the bilge. The fiberglass work was well executed and consistent, and Whitby Boat Works hull scantlings were among the heaviest in the industry.
The deck was balsa cored, and joined to the hull via an inward flange. The ballast is lead and is encapsulated inside the keel cavity.
This world cruiser has been refit including new engine, new wiring, new propane heater, like new 3 burner stove, new headliner, new portlights (no leaks). This is probably the best Alberg 37 currently on the market.

Commentaires du Broker
The Alberg 37 is a classic cruising yacht from the board of Carl Alberg. She is considered to be well-designed, safe, and capable of serious cruising. This model is unusually good looking and unusually affordable. She's in outstanding condition and is a must see. With many recent improvements including a new Kubota engine.
