Often referred to as one of London’s ‘best kept secrets’, St Katharine Docks must be one of the country’s most stunning marinas. Set against the backdrop of Tower Bridge and the modernist architecture of the City of London, the marina has plenty to offer visiting or resident sailors.

Entrance is via the lock which, during the summer season (April – October), operates at HW -2hrs to HW +1hrs between 0600 – 2030hrs. The lock office, St Katharine Haven, may be contacted on Channel 80 during scheduled locking times. The call sign is ‘St Katharine's’. Berths can also be booked online or by telephone, but we would advise booking as far ahead as possible as the marina tends to fill up quickly during the summer months. If you’re thinking about visiting for the Olympics, forget it – the marina has been fully booked for some time (although it may be worth addiSt Katng your name to the waiting list).

All the usual marina facilities are on hand, including shower/toilet blocks, though there is no chandlery or boatyard (the nearest yard is at South Dock Marina, a few miles down river). Leisure facilities are excellent, with a good selection of bars, pubs, restaurants and cafes within the marina. A few minutes walk away is Wapping, where you’ll find three superb traditional pubs (including the iconic Prospect of Whitby). Our personal favourite is the Town of Ramsgate, which has great food, a good selection of beers and a small river terrace.
